Legal Question in Family Law in California

divorce papers

I have been seperated since July of 2000, only was married for 1 year. I thought we were divorced, stupid me, cause she sent papers for me to sign so we will be divorced, but, I think the paperwork is kinda weird, might be wrong, but, just want someone to look a them, I am not sure if I should sign them or just ignore. I havent heard from her for 8 years, no contact, or even talked to by voice or mail. Can she legally screw me somehow?

Re: divorce papers

More information is needed.

I can review your case and advise on a modest means basis. I charge $100 an hour and can be retained at a five hour minimum in advance. You will need to go to the courthouse and get a certified copy of your file. Then forward a complete copy of your file and any papers that have been sent to you and a bank check or money order. I will review your file, interview you via telephone. I will evaluate what needs to be done, prepare papers that are required, and do what it takes to make sure that your are divorced.

If more time is needed to complete the case, I will let you know how much more is needed and you will pay those fees in advance. If there is a credit balance over the $500 minimum on close of the case, you will get a refund. I keep track of my time and send itemized statements.

Work begins when funds are received.

Let me know if I can be of service.
