If one party is asking for a reduction in support that has been ordered by the courts, can they ask for the reduction to be retroactive?

The court is prohibited by law from modifying child support after it becomes due and payable. The court may modify support back to the date the motion is filed. There may be a small number of fact circumstances in which support can be modified further back than the date of filing the motion to modify support.
