Divorce proceedings
If I want to file for divorce, but do not know where my husband is, do I have to find him and how long will this process take?

Re: Divorce proceedings
If you have made every attempt to reach him, but cannot, you may have to serve him by publication. This should not be a major hindrance to filing the divorce, although he could have the judgment re-opened later.
Re: Divorce proceedings
A skip-trace must be performed. If that is unsuccessful, then you must get an ORDER for service by publication. You would be well served by obtaining representation in this matter, especially if you want it completed as soon as possible. Please call me directly at (619) 222-3504.

He can be served by publication. A publication order is relatively easy to complete. You will need to do a search, but not real extensive. It should take 7 to 8 months for you to be single. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
