Legal Question in Family Law in California

Divorce [property settlement not fulfilled

12 years ago my husband and I were divorced after a 23 year marriage. We have three children who were 20,19 and 17 at the time of divorce. Stupidly, I let him handle the divorce and the attorneys as I was too busy trying to work building a new home 1100 miles away and help support our college age children. I live in Colorado, he lives in California, this was a CA divorce. In our settlement, the only financial amount I was received was a promissory note for a car. We never went to court. This was done through his lawyers. At that time, he threatened to cut off our college age kids support if I didn't let him handle this. The note reads ''I will provide a car when practible considering the financial situation of this couple.'' It is signed, dated and was filed with the court. He realizes he owes me this car and also compensation for other items. His new wife of seven years has herself said to me that he wants to repay this. Last year, when visiting here, I let him know that I'd like to settle the car issue by May 2008 (when the lease on my current car was up) and he said, (in front of several witnesses) ''we should be able to work something out. What legal recourse do I have to force him to settle this debt?
