Legal Question in Family Law in California
Divorce Settlement
My divorce was finalized here in California June 30, 1997. It was stipulated in the papers that my ex wife was entitled to a portion of my Social Security benefits. She moved to Pennsylvania shortly thereafter and has since remarried twice. I have remained single. Does she still have a claim to my SS, and if so, can it be changed? Thank you very much.

Re: Divorce Settlement
Social Security law provides that after you have been married for 10 years she can make her claim for social security on your account. I do not believe that she is entitled to receive a portion of your social security monthly payment.
