Legal Question in Family Law in California

Divorce settlement

My husband had an IRA pre-marriage. Now that we are divorcing, he wants the IRA plus the estimate of the accumulation of interest for the past 7 years. I know he is entitled to the original amt, but how about the interest?

Re: Divorce settlement

Generally, he is entitled to the original amount plus earnings on the original amount. If there has been any contributions during the marriage the community is entitled to those contributions, plus earnings on the contributions. Those are the general rules, you should get a consultation with a family law attorney for more specifics. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
