Legal Question in Family Law in California

In a divorce situation what is my best move? Should I file for the divorce first or my husband? We ae ending our marriage on reconcilable differences. I wanted a seperation and he wants the divorce, all Iwant is to be protected in this situation. I invested 15 yrs and married 3 yrs. I heard if who ever files the divorce first has Declaration or request as to how everything would be to settle finances, property division, child custody, visitation, and other issues related to divorce. Is that true? Whats my best option, file first?

It does not make a difference who files first in a divorce or in a legal separation. You should have a consultation with an experienced family law attorney. If you take advice from the street you will probably make mistakes, some of them could be big and costly. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
