Legal Question in Family Law in California

Divorce/ Spousal support

Our original meeting with a divorce mediator is 3 days prior to our 24th anniversary. Should I wait until after the anniversary (for increased spousal support) so that we have been married 24 years, instead of 23??

Re: Divorce/ Spousal support

It will probably make no difference. You were married in a long term marriage of over 20 years. Length of marriage in the courts mean from date of marriage until the date that one of you you decided to no longer be married and communicated that to the other. (That is a simple explanation to a complex issue.) Good Luck, Pat McCrary
