Legal Question in Family Law in California

Divorce - Spouse left State

I have filed for divorce and my spouse has left the state. I do not know how to serve; Are there some other options for me out there to help me move to the next step in the process? (I have heard something about about placing a 'Public Notice' in the local paper. Can you fill me in further)? Can I use the last known address or something?

Thank you very much.

First you need to search for him. Check with all of his relatives and friends to determine whether you can obtain a current address. Then check with the DMV for a current address, and the local registrar of voters. Then if you cannot locate him you can request a court order to allow service by publication.
