Legal Question in Family Law in California
divorce
I am a stay at home mom with 3 children, no income, my husband is in the military and will retire in four months, he walked out on us and wants a divorce, when he came back from Iraq he got his things and moved out of the house, he continues to pay all of the bills, and does not want to ruin his last four months in great standings in the military, he does not want to go to a lawyer, and wants to file everything himself, he threatens to stop paying the mortgage if the hou se does not sell shortly. The house has been up for sale for a couple of months, there is no kitchen due to the fact that we started to remodel and then he was sent away to Iraq, he said he will not finish the kitchen and really does not care about ruining his credit, but I am very concerned.
I really don't know what my rights are and what I should do at this point, I do not have money for a lawyer and he has cancelled all of our credit cards except for one that is only under his name. All of his paycheck goes to pay all of the bills and the morttage, and what is left is what we live off of right now. I feel like I don't have much say so due to that fact, so as long as I cooperate with everything he says the children, have a place to live and food to eat.

Re: divorce
Call around you county for an attorney who will accept your case with a lien on the house. You need legal assistance, do not sign anything without the advice of an attorney. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
