Legal Question in Family Law in California
divorce
I am staying in the family home. I have read that it is customary for me to pay for the property taxes and homeowners insurance, which I have been. Can I be reimbursed for half of the property taxes and homeowners insurance I have paid when the property is sold?

Probably, and I say probably because it is in the discretion of the judge, the if the total of the house payments and taxes, insurance and maintenance is in excess of the rental value of the property, the judge will order reimbursement of one half of the amount of the payments in excess of the rental value. Many judges may not care to make the calculations. Talk to an attorney who can discuss this with you in greater detail. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
