can I get a Divorce in the U.S. virgin Islands & it be legal in california.

If you reside in the U.S. Virgin Islands and get a divorce there it would be valid in California. Going there for the purpose of getting a divorce then its validity may be subject to challenge. If you go there merely for the divorce there is a question as to the jurisdiction of the Virgin Islands over the marriage.
