My 20 year marriage Is ending. Like to know what basic Info. re:alimony and years. My only medical coverage Is through husband.I have always worked,only earning about 15,000.00. His Income Is about60,000.00. We have always owned a home. He will be recieving a large Inheititnce when father dies who Is 90.....Thank you for any general help you can.

Assets and debts acquired during marriage are community assetts and debts. Based on length of marriage and income differences he will likely be ordered to pay spousal support at least for a significant timeperiod if requested unless community assets are divided in a manner that might account for such support. A formula is available based on assetts, income, etc. RE his inheritance, that is his separate property and will be his separate property unless he designates it otherwise. Call to discuss. Spousal support is based on your need and his ability to pay. The length of time would depend upon the particular circumstances of your case.
The money he receives from his father would be his separate property. You have no interest in this money.
