Legal Question in Family Law in California
When I was divorced in 2001, in the court papers is states that my ex is to pay alimony every month until death remarriage or the courts state otherwise. In 2007, my ex sent me a hand written letter staing he wouldnt be paying me anymore. Now, he owes me over 10, 000.00 and has moved to missouri and remarried. How can i get him to pay this? Do I have to take it to court? Ive asked him to pay and he says take me to court. What can i do?

Unless that court order is modified, he owes the money plus interest at 10%. time to return to court on an enforcement motion demanding payment!
You have to go to court. You will need a contempt citation here in California, and then will probably have to have it enforced in Missouri. Support is owed until it is paid, but it really was a big mistake not to deal with this as soon as he sent the letter. You need a lawyer.
