Legal Question in Family Law in California

My ex and I were divorced in Georgia in 1999.He was ordered, by the court in our divorce decree, to pay me 100.00/month for 5 years for marital debt he owed me.He has paid nothing and told me he intends to never pay.We both live now in Los Angeles. How can I get this judgement enforced and does he owe me interest? Can he be found indirect contempt of court? What can I do.

You are entitled to your money as well as interest on the Judgment. You may file a contempt action against him for his failure to pay. You should contact a family law attorney for assistance in the enforcement of his payments to you.

You must first register the Georgia order in California and then proceed to enforce the order as a California order. You are entitled to interest if that interest is payable under Georgia law.
