Legal Question in Family Law in California

I am divorced, in the Marine Corps and currently stationed at Camp Pendleton Ca. My daughter lives in the state of Virginia with mom. We divorced out the country but now I am having difficulty with visitation for the last two years I have been want ting to see my daughter for Christmas but mom just says no every time and the answer is no again for this year. Where do I go to obtain schedule visitation? Do I have to go to the courts in Virginia? California?

That's a pretty complicated issue, given that the divorce was not done in any U.S. jurisdiction. I've never been in the military, but I've known some attorneys who are former JAG Corps attorneys. It seems to me I recall them saying that the JAG Corps provides some assistance to service men and women with domestice/family legal issues. I'd suggest you check into that. Otherwise I think you're going to need to retain an attorney to look into this for you. The good news is that the courts in every state favor quality continuning contact with non-custodial parents (absent "issues"), so if you do have to go to court you should get some time with your daughter on a regular basis.
