Legal Question in Family Law in California

Divorced in Michigan, joint custody of the kids. Father resides with children in Michigan, Mother lives in California, can I have a CA attorney represent me in this custody case?

If the case is in Michigan, you will need an attorney licensed to practice in Michigan.

Yes, you can but you would be better off having an attorney that is licensed in Michigan. You might find an attorney that is licensed in both California and Michigan but the case is a Michigan case and therefore you are better served by a Michigan attorney. There really is no reason for a California attorney because California doesn't have jurisdiction in the matter. California law does not apply. Michigan law is the law involved. Get an attorney in Michigan.
