Legal Question in Family Law in California
Divorced & want to start a business
I am divorced & paying a set alimony to my ex (and will be forever - we were married 26 years). I want to start a business with partners and will be an employee of the business getting a salary. My question: will my ex be able to go after any of my share of the business profits. I know alimony is based on my annual income, but I'm just not sure about my percentage of the company's profits even if I do not take them out of the company.

In a general sense, it is not likely that "retained earnings" will be used in calculating your spousal support obligation.
For a specific opinion regarding your individual circumstances, I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
