Legal Question in Family Law in California

Divorce/Legal Sepperation

My husband and I have been married for 7 years. We are now seeking a divorce or legal seperation. There are 3 children in the marrage 7,5,&2. My husband and i agree fully on where the children should live and who with and visitation. We also agree on estate matters. We also agree that our marrage is over, irreneciable diffrences. My first question is..What can we do to make our divorce legal enexpensive and with out lawyers. We feel they are not needed because we do agree on everything. 2.I am moving to Michigan in the next 4 weeks to be with family, and finish schooling. I am taking my 2 year old with me and leaving the older kids to finish school with ther father. What are the legal ramafications of filing for divorce and me being gone. What should we do or not do?

Re: Divorce/Legal Sepperation

find a lawyer who will do the divorce on an hourly rate and have him discuss an estimate of the number of hours needed and exactly what needs to be done. that is the best way to control costs.

In an uncontested divorce, no one needs to appear in court. Find an attorney, who is experienced, by simply calling around and asking "What is your fees for an uncontested divorce with a marital settlement agreement?" Don't go to a paralegal, who can cause you more problems than you want to deal with. A good attorney will not cost that much more if you shop around. Good Luck

Dear Inquirer:

Nothing herein shall create an attorney-client

Nothing herein shall constitute an attorney-client

deadlines and time-limits associated with your

choice for legal advice specific to your personal

situation, at once.

If you haven't already done so, please visit my

and my office (location, hours, fees, policies).

NOW, IN RESPONSE TO YOUR INQUIRY --

You have somewhat complicated issues of jurisdiction, residency requirements,

and moving away with one child versus the automatic

temporary restraining orders which go into effect

when you file and serve your Petition. See a lawyer.

You'll "get it right" the first time and save money

in the long run.
