Divorce/postal pension

In my divorce my wife and i agreed to half of each others pension, she quit work, iam now ready to retire from the postal service . We were married ten years while i was in the usps.At that time i was making $30,000 now i am making $60,000. I WILL RECEIVE 56% OF MY SALARY. hOW MUCH WILL SHE BE ENTITLED TO.

That depends upon what your judgment says. If it says half of her pension you got cheated. It should say half of the community interest in your pension, which would be half of the pension that was earned during the time that you were married and any accumulation on that portion. Then there is a question of whether you have a TSP. In any event you should have an order prepared dividing the pension so that her share is paid directly to her and your share of hers is paid directly to you. See an attorney on this to make sure that this is done correctly. A mistake could cost you a lot of money. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
