Legal Question in Family Law in California

DNA as proof of parentage

My father was buried several months ago. Since I was his illegitimate son, I want to prove he was my father through a DNA test. His family won't cooperate.

What steps do I take?

Interesting, I have never encountered this case before. You will have to get a court order. There are diferent theories you can go on, one is a Petition to establish parental relationship and another is on medical grounds. Probably the best one would be medical grounds. There is substantial scientific data to suggest that knowing one's genetic roots can assist doctors in making early diagnoses of numerous life threatening diseases. If you go to court on this theory, If believe you have a good chance of getting a favorable order. Of course, the body will have to be dug up at considerable cost to you unless a blood, hair or other sample is available. If I may be of any further assistance, feel free to call.
