Legal Question in Family Law in California
DNA Testing informational Purposes
I am in a situation where my child is 17 years old. I just found out who I thought was their father is not. The other person in question is very nervous about taking a DNA test and he is requesting a document (before taking the blood test) from me stating I will not pursue any child support. Which is not my intention.I would like to appease him but, not release any opportunity my child may have to receive other monies from him (in the event of death, etc). What do you recommend?

Re: DNA Testing informational Purposes
The court can intervene if the suspected father does not volunatarily consent to paternity testing. He cannot "contract away" child support, as child support is not something between you and him per se, but rather for the best interest of the minor child.
