Legal Question in Family Law in California

Due to job layoff, I am planning to move to another state to live and work. My minor daughter (16) will most likely not want to accompany me, since she has roots here and is two years away from graduation. She doesn't get along well with her father (who lives in our city). In fact our oldest daughters had some rebellion and runaway problems because she didn't get along with her father. Younger daughter will most likely not want to stay with father. My question is: Can I appoint a guardian for my minor daughter to stay with and complete school? Can she can be forced to stay with her father if she gets along poorly with him? I have a selection of a guardian in mind, and she is an excellent parent to her own daughter who is the same age.

It would be very hard to get a guardian appointed over your husband's objection, but you can try. It would be far better, however, and much more likely to succeed, if you negotiated something with him.
