Effective Immediately

My husband and I have been separated and have not lived together in almost a year. I heard something about being able to have my divorce effective immediately because of that situation. Is that true?

Re: Effective Immediately

No. You have to wait 6 months after the date of service of a summons to have an "effective" divorce. You can, however, have the court order that the date of separation was when you in fact stopped living together.
