Legal Question in Family Law in California

Elderly financial Abuse

My grandmother just died and my Aunt, (my mothers sister), who had been living with her the last 6 months has ran up $26,000 in credit card bills. All of my grandmothers inheritance is to be split equally between the siblings. How can we make sure that her abuse in using my grandmothers credit card for her own needs doesn't get paid from the pot, prior to the distribution of the inheritance. There isn't much money there but she is going to try to pay off the credit cards and then spilit the remainder.

Re: Elderly financial Abuse

You might just get her to agree to accepting less. If she doesn't, the consider bringing an elder abuse charge against her.
