Legal Question in Family Law in California

employer doesn't send assignment ordered spousal support

My mother has a wage assignment order for spousal support. The employer is 4 payments in arrears. It appears to be deducted from the wages, the company is refusinf to send. Her attorney does not want to attempt contempt charges due to cost that would be incurred.

When the attorney writes up a letter and charges my mother the payments are sent for a few months and then delayed again.

The local district attorney's office will enforce the support order. Contact from the district attorney's office may be sufficient to convince the employer the importance of making regular payments.
