Legal Question in Family Law in California

Enforcement of UK Court Order in California

My British husband is living in California (Corona). We are getting divorced. He has not honored our separation agreement and so owes me money. I have a court order from a British Court ordering him to pay what is owed but he is ignoring this. I need to have this court order enforced through the Californai Court. How do I do this? What court forms do I need to fill in? Do I need to have an attorney for this? Please help!!

Re: Enforcement of UK Court Order in California

You will need to register the order in California. Once registered it can be enforced the same as a California order, which is by wage assignment. If he has employment you should be paid directly from the employer. You will need to retain an attorney unless you can make appearrances in the California court, so I am assuming that it would be cheaper to retain an attorney than to fly back and forth.
