Legal Question in Family Law in California

Enforcing Old Child Support Order 3 are Adults Now

My husband received an order from Mariposa County, CA Child Support. The original court order is 10 years old from Navajo County, Az where I live. 3 of the 4 named children on the support order are over 18. Is this legal? We paid child support to Phoenix agengy up until 3 years ago when 2 of the children became adults and 2 went to foster home in CA when exwife went to drug treatment program. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Enforcing Old Child Support Order 3 are Adults Now

He will need to either pay the child support or get the court to order that he does not have to pay it. First gather all the records of payments paid they you can. Then get evidence that two the children were placed into foster care. He is liable for the payment of child support for the two children in foster care. With an old court order for support he may be better off just paying the amount requested. Rather than contesting the amount of child support due. Contact an attorney regarding this matter take all of the records that you can gather with you to the attorney's office.
