Legal Question in Family Law in California

Enforcing Divorce Settlement

In my divorce settlement my ex-husband agreed to take full responsibility for all debts incurred by his 2 business. He owned these businesses while we were married. He has defaulted on these debts. My wages had been garnished by one and now I am forced to make payments to some of these creditors. Since it is put me in extreme financial hardship and he had agreed to pay this as part of our settlement is there any way to force him to pay?

Re: Enforcing Divorce Settlement

Look at your settlement agreement for ways to get him to pay. If he was ordered to comply with the agreement in your dissolution judgment, you may be able to get him held in contempt. You may just have to sue him. Of course, he may file for bankruptcy and you will be stuck. Good luck. Michael Hall Gray
