Legal Question in Family Law in California

Engagement ring

My ex-fiancee broke off our engagement. After receiving the ring, she paid to have the diamond upgraded to a higher quality. This cost her $3500. I paid more than $6400 for the original setting. Now she is dragging her in feet in giving it back. I know about Civil Code 1590 in Ca, but I want make sure that I have all of the bases covered, should I need to pursue legal action to get the ring back.

Re: Engagement ring

You should take her to small claims court for your ring back or the value. You are limited in the amount you may recover in small claims court.

As always consult with an attorney in your area before taking action.

Good luck.
