Legal Question in Family Law in California

Ex Entering the Property

My divorce is not yet final. My ex moved out of our home on Sept 1st. She quit contributing to the house payment months before that. Can she enter my home without my permission? Are there any privacy laws that protect me. I believe that in rental situations, the owner cannot enter without the tenants permission? As the ''resident'' of the co-owned home, am I entitled to the same rights?

Thank you,

Donald

Re: Ex Entering the Property

You will need to get a court order giving you exculsive right to the house. Changing the door locks is also an option. However, this move often result in the other party becoming irate and causing problems.
