Legal Question in Family Law in California

Am I entitled to proceeds from sale of home?

I lived with a man for 9 years and during that time we had one child. We were never married. While we were still together, he bought a manufactured home where we lived for 4 years. I moved out and we share custody of our child. My ex is now going to sell the manufactured home and my question is am I entitled to any of the proceeds from the sale even though we were never married?

To collect anything from the sale of the home you will have to sue him is civil court on a contract theory. That is you must prove that there was an agreement between you to share the benefist of your labor during the time you lived together. This can be difficult as the agreement is often unspoken and at best is verbal.
