Legal Question in Family Law in California

What am I entitled to ?

I have been in a relationship for over 7 years, we never married. When we rented the house we live in he had only himself put on the lease, although I pay 1/2 the monthly rent and 1/2 of the household bills(phone, PG&E etc)When we purchased a new car a few years back he has that in his name as well, although I pay 1/2 the monthly car payments and the insurance. Although he isnt my son's biological father he is the only father he's known(he was almost 2 when we got together, he's 9 now) If I were to leave this relationship what am I entitled to ? 1/2 of personal property we've accumulated ? Child Support ? Alimony ?

Re: What am I entitled to ?

If there is any value in the car (it's worth more than you owe) you are entitled to half. You are also entitled to half of any furniture or computers that you bought together. If he gave you an engagement ring he is entitled to get it back. You may not get spousal support or child support and do not have to allow any visitation. If you have a dispute about the property you can take it to small claims court but I would suggest you look into doing private mediation first to work out an agreement. You don't mention why you two never married but I will presume that he didn't want to be legally bound. Well, now the question is what does he feel he is morally bound to do for you and "his" son.
