Legal Question in Family Law in California

Epstein Credits and Watts

Married 20 yrs., my husband paid major bills such as mortgage, taxes, auto, insurances. I, the wife, paid for children expenses, food, utilities. I worked p/t while he worked (2) full time jobs. On our 3rd home, he petitioned for divorce, moved out but still pay the mortgage. I don't have enough money to pay anything. He wants epstein credits and watts charges. I did use mothers insurance to help with the purchase of the house and upgrades. I am still p/t, kids are grown but live at home. He paid off every car. He has taken all of the savings and cash out of the banks. The house loan is in his name only but I am on the title. He pays all taxes, life insurance. I don't have money for an atty. but I have to respond with 15 days. Any advice is helpful. What is Epstein credits and Watts?

Re: Epstein Credits and Watts

You should immediately consult with an attorney. Based on your statement the money in the bank is community property, and the house appears to be combination of separate property and community property. There is a very high probability that the court will order his to pay your attorney fees.

Re: Epstein Credits and Watts

I would do a google search for further information. Epstein credits are his paymentes for the community expenses after separation. He wants you to reimburse him for 1/2 of those payments. Watts charges are because you are living at the home where it can be rented and gaining income. I would reccomend a good self help book at the law library to get informed of what he is asking for and how to counter it.

As always please consult with a local attorney prior to taking any legal action

Good luck,
