In establishing a guardianship where parents are alive, does the court look unfavorably on establishing guardianships for economic reasons, including being able to provide the ward insurance coverage, etc.

The court is required by law to act in the best interest of the minor in making guardianship determinations. It will inquire why it is in the minor's best interest to appoint a guardian and suspend the parental rights of the child's birth parents. So good reasons are necessary. If the parents cannot provide necessary care for the minor that is important. If the parents consent to the guardianship, the process is easier. But there has to be a good reason for guardianship.
