Legal Question in Family Law in California
estranged husband missing, 17 years, need divorce
My husband and I were married for 1.5 years before we seperated 17 years ago, we never filed for divorce and I am planning to remarry next year. What do I need to do legally to remarry? I have tried to reach my estranged husband, but even his mother claims to not know where he is. We have no property, children or debts together. What are my first steps?
Thank you!

You should file a petition for dissolution and then make a search for your husband. After satisfying the requirements for service by publication, obtain a court order allowing service by publication. Then proceed with a default divorce.
