Legal Question in Family Law in California

Can the estranged husband stop paying the mortgage on the home included in divorce. He hasn't made Mortgage payments in almost a year, I think he is deliberately not paying the mortgage because he was ordered to give my daughter half when he sells the home. Their mortgage lender calls my grand daughter several times a aweek asking for her father. Also the District Attorney suggested that I file a Joinder in order for me to see my grandson because the dad told them not to talk to me.

Thank you,

Mary Ann Broussard

He can stop paying unless he's ordered to maintain the payments. If he's purposely letting the house go, your daughter should be able to get an order that he pay, or change the existing orders to give her the house if she can pay.

In California grandparents do have visitation rights, so the DA is right that you should enforce them if you need to.
