What event triggers the 6 month waiting period in a divorce before someone can remarry?

There is no waiting period before you can remarry once you get a divorce judgment, it's that you can't get a judgment less than six months after you start the divorce proceeding. I can't remember off the top of my head if it is six months from when you file or six months from when you serve the other party, but I think six months from filing. Of course to get a judgment exactly six months after filing you have to do a lot of work in those six months to get the case done and ready for a judgment, but it can be done.
