Legal Question in Family Law in California

My ex-boyfriend filed for a restraining order against me even though we had conversations since the break up that he would end as soon as it became unpleasant for him because he hates to admit that he is wrong and shouldn't have lied and stolen from me while we were together. I haven't seen him since the break up and his stories in his request for the order are extremely exaggerated and some flat out aren't true. In my response I agreed to stay away from him and all that but in my explanation wrote that it's because I don't intend or want to see and don't feel a restraining order is necessary for him to get what he is asking for. Even though he already has it. The hearing is tomorrow and I am super nervous. Do i ask for a mutual restraining order or doni fight it and then ask for one? What do I say tomorrow in my defense?

Why don't you mediate it? Many courts on the day of the hearing will ask the parties if they want to mediate, and court mediators are often available. It's possible to obtain a stipulation to stay away, that is not entered in CLETS. This is also useful if either of you have the other person's personal belongings and need to return them after a break up.
