Legal Question in Family Law in California

Ex-husband and finances

My ex-husband has never had steady employment. He was self-employed for a year and a half but sold the business 6 mos. ago. Since that time he has looked for jobs that he is not qualified for and now seems to be doing nothing about finding a job he is able or qualified to do. We have 50/50 custody of our daughter and he has 3 teenagers from a previous marriage which he also has 50/50 custody of. I am getting no response or hateful responses to my question of whether or not he has enough money to properly care for our daughter. Do I not have the right to know his general financial situation as a responsible parent to my daughter?

Yes you can determine his financial information. YOu can open up a case with the department of child support services in your local county to have them enforce child support against him.

Good luck, as always please consult with an attorney prior to taking legal action.
