Legal Question in Family Law in California

My ex-husband won't refinance a truck that he has possesion of, I bought it,but he makes the payments , in his own name, how do I get my name off? We also jointly owned a house that went into a short sell in February, how do I get my name off of this too? Is filing bankruptcy the only way to get him off my credit report and relieve me of any other obligations that we once held jointly?
