Legal Question in Family Law in California
Extention on Spousal Support
Hi,
I'm writing to find out if and how I can file an extention for Spousal Support. My support is expires on Oct 31, 03 and I would like to extend it for another 3 to 4 months possibly. I have two girls 12 and 8 years old. A year and half ago I was laid off of job. I collected unemployment for a year. Not only did I have a tough time finding a job, my youngest daughter came down with Asthma and, at one, point hospitalized for 5 days. Both girls were sick as well as myself that year alot and it made it tough for me to get a job.I am working now, however, financially I'm struggling. If my alimony ends it would be a heavy burden on me and the girls. HELP!
What is your advice to me. I cannot afford an attorney but may have no choice?

You need to file an O.S.C. and you need to file it before your current support order expires. Depending upon the exact language in the underlying order, you may or may not be able to extend it.
I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
