Legal Question in Family Law in California

ex-wife moving away with kids

My ex-wife and i have been divorced for over two years now, and we have joint custody of our two children, ages 6 & 8 with her having them 80% and me 20% of the time. When we separated she moved to CA so I moved to CA to be close to my children. Now she has a job offer in AZ and wants to move there with her boyfriend and the children. I have told her no. She said she is going to file a motion for a court order allowing her to move. She says this will result in mediation where she will try her best to show how the move is best for the kids. I have not always paid my support, but i have always seen my kids and we are very bonded. how can i stop this?

Re: ex-wife moving away with kids

You will have to request a custody evaluation where it is there determined that the kids should stay with and live with you in CA which is in there best interest as opposed to moving to AZ with mom. This is a complex process.
