Legal Question in Family Law in California
My ex-wife of 2 years is requesting an increase in child support. She is stating since i live with my current girlfriend, i can afford more. Does my girlfriends income come into play even though we are not married or engaged?

The court does not consider girlfriend or a new spouse income to calculate support.

Ms. Kock is correct. Only your income counts for calculating child support. Good bad or indifferent, child support calculations have nothing to do with what you can "afford." It's what you earn versus what the other parent earns, less a very few specific deductions.
