Legal Question in Family Law in California

I am facing a contested conservatorship for my disabled sister, and I am pursing it pro per. The

family member contesting it is a brother who has been physically violent toward me. I have asked a college counselor to testify as my character reference since the judge ordered the case to proceed to trial. I understand the focus of the trial is what is best interest of my disabled sister. However, the court-appointed attorney aggressively told me that I either agree to

co-conservatorship or I will lose completely.

I wish to bring some light to the court in how damaging family violence can be. And therefore, the college counselor wishes to know what kind of questions an attorney may ask him during cross examination as he does not wish to be "blind-sided." It is all quite unnerving to both of us and thus we wish to be well prepared for the cross-examination questions.
