Legal Question in Family Law in California

Fair equalization of comunity property

My wife and I were married 2 1/2 years ago and lived together pryor to that for about 6 years. In the time we have been married we have bought a home that we both have put an equal amount of money into, ie $19,000 each for down payment and approximently another $2 to 3,000 each in material to fix the place up. It was in need of such work. She may have put more $$ into materials but I have done all of the labor which would total approximently $7,000. I have less than adiquit credit to have been able to qualify for the loan so I signed a quitclame deed form so she is the only one named on the deed and mortage loan. She says that I am an Idiot and thanks for the money and work but take a hike. I know I should have got something in writiong but since I didn't am I still entidled to half the equity and a fair share of comunity property we have aquired in not only the 2 1/2 years of marage but for the entire 8 years. Thanks for your time

Re: Fair equalization of comunity property

You have a problem. There might be some possible relief in a case called Haines (Haynes?). Assuming the equity amount is worth fighting over, get a lawyer.
