Legal Question in Family Law in California

I have 2 children i pay child support for, My exwife is remaried, she is currantly hospitalised and he husband has asked me to write the childsupport check to him since they do not have a joint account. Is it safe for me to do this as long as i state it is for childsupport in the memo section of the check?

Write the check to her. Give it to him. If she is ok for him to place it in his account, she will endorse the check for him. If not, then she can do whatever she wishes to put it in her account.
