Legal Question in Family Law in California

i have been going through family court for awhile now. it is getting harder and harder for me to get time off. i have been trying to get in touch with the petitioners lawyer to change a court date. i am the respondent in the case.. i have called 5times n left messages, sent numerous emails and have yet to get a reply. the date was set by the petioners lawyer. is there a way i can change the date or can i have a lawyer sit in for me n request a new date.

You can file an Order to Show Cause to change the hearing date. Also, don't just leave phone messages. Send a fax or letter to opposing counsel and explain why you can't make it for the currently scheduled hearing.
