Legal Question in Family Law in California

family law

My boyfried just recieved a call from an ex stating that she wants him to sign a paper to show that he is the father of her 7 year old child. This is the first time he has heard about this child. She is going through a custody battle with her ex boyfriend and wants full custody of this child. She claims by us signing this letter it will help her case. What kind of letter is used for a case of this nature, in order to help the case?

Re: family law

That sounds like a really stupid idea. Chances are the man who alleges that he is the father will demand DNA testing which will prove that he is or is not the Father. If he is not the Father your boyfreind could be stuck paying child support for this child, even if he is not that Father. Don't sign anything. Good Luck, Pat McCrary

Tell your boyfriend not to sign any document prior to consulting with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
