Legal Question in Family Law in California

If there was a on going case concerning child custody and i was awarded sole custody during this custody case the other party opened a divorse case but included custody of chilren and half of assets.in another district.because of a checked that bounce that wasnt mine. this payment for my appeal was never enterd. i was defaulted. I didnt know or was notified of this. so what happend the other party as awarded custody,assets and child support. My question is this possible because of the case going on at the same time? its hard to explain i did the best i could.

Apparently it can happen because it did. I would suggest that you retain an attorney because it doesn't seem to be going well without one. Good Luck, Pat McCrary

A party has to notify the court of any pending similar actions. Sounds like this did not happen. Therefore, you can probably bring a motion to have the orders set aside, reconsidered or modified.
